Soccer Game Preview: Gilbert vs. Aiken

The Gilbert Indians will take on the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gilbert has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Gilbert came up short against North Augusta on Tuesday, falling 6-1. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 5-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Leo Torres, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Aiken kept a clean sheet against Airport on Monday. They blew past the Eagles 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Green Hornets in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Aiken's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Gilbert, they now have a losing record of 2-3-2.

Gilbert came out on top in a nail-biter against Aiken when the teams last played back in March of 2018, sneaking past 1-0. Does Gilbert have another victory up their sleeve, or will Aiken turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
