Softball Recap: Providence Day Has No Trouble Against North Raleigh Christian Academy

Providence Day lost to North Raleigh Christian Academy back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Knights. Considering the Chargers have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rachel Lyons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Providence Day got a big performance out of Audrey Glosson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Glosson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hartsell, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Providence Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Providence Day and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence Day will square off against Cannon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, they will face off against Wake Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
