White Plains proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wellborn Panthers, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 25, 2025.

White Plains' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Stamm, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

White Plains hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wellborn struck out eight times.

White Plains' victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Wellborn, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. White Plains is headed away from home for the first time to take on Munford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wellborn, they will head out to challenge Woodland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
