Softball Recap: Highland Park Comes Up Short

Highland Park had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 14-9 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the Wakeland Wolverines. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Scots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Highland Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shannon Hart, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Wakeland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Wakeland's side, the team relied heavily on Kayla Courcy, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Courcy has posted since back in February of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Drake, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Highland Park is set to challenge their familiar foe The Colony at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wakeland will face off against rival Creekview at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
