Martinsville faced Metro-East Lutheran in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bluestreaks were outmatched by the Knights and fell 70-40. The Bluestreaks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Martinsville lost, don't look at Gabe Griffin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 60 yards and one TD.

Abe Oberhauser was his usual excellent self, rushing for 138 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 144 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes for Metro-East Lutheran. Oberhauser's longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Cody Morgan also helped out as he racked up 173 rushing yards.

Martinsville now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
