The South Florence Bruins will head out to challenge the Sumter Gamecocks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. South Florence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

South Florence's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Crestwood 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Khalon McGee and Gabe McLaughlin did most of the damage at the plate: McGee went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI, while McLaughlin went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That home run was McGee's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Christian Hickson, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

South Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sumter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Cheraw by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Gamecocks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

South Florence's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Sumter, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

South Florence couldn't quite get it done against Sumter in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 6-1. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
