Baseball Game Preview: Brazos Cougars vs. Goliad Tigers

The Brazos Cougars will face off against the Goliad Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Brazos has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Goliad will arrive with eight straight wins.

Brazos came up short against Almeta Crawford on Tuesday, falling 10-3.

Brazos saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gunner Grigar, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Goliad's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Nixon-Smiley a 14-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Goliad's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Brazos, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.
