Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Averie Coats and Quinn Buchan Lead Bellmont to Victory

Bellmont lost to Avon back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Braves walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Orioles.

Leading Bellmont to victory were Quinn Buchan and Averie Coats. Buchan had 16 digs and two aces, while Coats had 11 digs and one assist. Those two aces gave Buchan a new career-high.

Several Orioles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Wilson, who had 12 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Stella Hamood, who had 31 digs and five assists.

Bellmont's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Avon, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Bellmont will head out to face off against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avon, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Yorktown on the 23rd.
