Softball Recap: Rocky River Comes Up Short

Rocky River was the 9-1 winner over Lakewood when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.

Reagan Kane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Rocky River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leigh Konet, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Rocky River's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Lakewood, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky River will face off against Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakewood, they will challenge Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.73 runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
