Basketball Recap: East Brunswick Takes a Loss

If East Brunswick was feeling good fresh off their 80-49 takedown of Central Jersey College Prep last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East Brunswick Bears took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Raiders are ranked 33rd).

East Brunswick has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Scotch Plains-Fanwood, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Coming up, East Brunswick will take on Dickinson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dickinson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully East Brunswick likes a good challenge. As for Scotch Plains-Fanwood, they will venture away from home to square off against Union City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
