Baseball Recap: Madera South Comes Up Short

Madera South extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 10-10. They lost 7-0 to the Roosevelt Rough Riders. Considering the last time the Stallions couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.

Josiah Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits.

As for Roosevelt, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7-2 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Roosevelt's side, Cruz Diego made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Diego has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, not much got past Cerrato Xamuel, who gave up just six hits to keep Madera South off the board.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Molano Manuel, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Martinez Daniel was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madera South will square off against Central at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.43 runs per game on average), something the Stallions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Roosevelt, they will challenge Torres at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
