Soccer Game Preview: North Pole vs. Wasilla

North Pole hasn't had much luck against Wasilla recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 10:00 a.m.

North Pole is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Soldotna, who was ranked second at the time (North Pole was ranked 15th). The Patriots lost 3-0 to the Stars on Friday. The match was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for North Pole it sure didn't stay that way.

Meanwhile, Wasilla hasn't lost a match since April 17th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Lathrop a 6-0 shutout. Considering Wasilla have won seven contests by more than three goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Lathrop with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Molly O'Neill (2), Kylie Taylor (2), Danielle Steiner, and Lainey Kroon.

Wasilla has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those eight matches. As for North Pole, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.

North Pole suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Wasilla in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
