Softball Recap: Canfield's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Canfield dropped their record down to 19-4-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Boardman Spartans, falling 13-3. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

As for Boardman, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Boardman's part, Tori Strines made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Strines was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Addie Rudge was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Jocelynn Torres was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canfield will take on Jackson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Polar Bears have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Boardman, they will face off against Jefferson Area at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
