If Valley Falls wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Atchison County, they should've done a better job of containing Kinzee Bauerle. The Atchison County Tigers took down the Valley Falls Dragons 60-43 on Friday thanks in part to Bauerle, who went 16 of 24 on her way to 39 points along with eight boards and seven steals. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Kori Wagner, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. Those 12 boards gave her a new career-high.
Atchison County's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2. As for Valley Falls, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Atchison County and Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another on January 3, 2025. As for Valley Falls, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McLouth on January 3, 2025.
