Softball Game Preview: Oakton Cougars vs. Lake Braddock Bruins

The Oakton Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Lake Braddock Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Oakton came up short against Forest Park on Monday, falling 15-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Braddock, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Robinson on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.

The result came thanks to MacKenzie Verdejo's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 16 Ks.

At the plate, Eva Dubray was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Addison Forde was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Oakton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lake Braddock, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Oakton was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Braddock when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
