Volleyball Game Preview: Victory Christian Academy Knights vs. Poway Titans

The Victory Christian Academy Knights will square off against the Poway Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Victory Christian Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering The Cambridge School just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins.

While Victory Christian Academy ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 26-28, 25-17, 25-19.

Despite their loss, Victory Christian Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brad Chier, who had 20 kills, 12 digs, and two aces, was perhaps the best of all. Chier is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had seven or more in each of the last 21 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Esteban Torres, who had 38 assists and seven digs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Poway, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Mt. Carmel 3-0 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Sundevils: they've now won seven in a row.

Poway not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Mt. Carmel between 18 and 19 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-18.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Poway, their win bumped their record up to 19-14.
