Volleyball Recap: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Maumee Panthers

Springfield had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-12 to make it 13. They fell just short of the Maumee Panthers by a score of 3-2. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Addison Polefko paced Springfield's offense, picking up 18 kills. Polefko got some help from Zoe Rose and her 43 assists. Macey Grymkowski controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

As for Maumee, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Springfield since September 14, 2021.

Maumee was led to victory by Taryn Pyle and Julia Coutcher. Pyle had 13 digs and one assist, while Coutcher had 12 digs and eight assists. That's the most digs Pyle has posted over her last eight games. Jamie Brooks also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on Anthony Wayne at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maumee, they will square off against Fostoria at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
