Baseball Recap: Lamar Takes a Loss

Lamar fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Valley Springs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Valley Springs Tigers by a score of 11-10. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Jody Humphrey led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Logan Leeds also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Even though they lost, Lamar hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.

Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Valley Springs, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lamar will take on Paris at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Paris' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Lamar's hitters will have their work cut out for them. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up.
