Softball Recap: Jefferson Yellowjackets vs. West Monona Spartans
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jefferson). They walked away with a 4-1 win over the West Monona Spartans on Monday.

Carley Steinspring made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
Steinspring wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Teygan Rasmussen, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Rylee Perrine also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Jefferson's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for West Monona, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Jefferson will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. The Lynx will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for West Monona, they will face off against River Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
