Softball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Athens can now relate to. They fell just short of the Gardendale Rockets by a score of 9-7 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Golden Eagles have suffered since April 24th.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 27-20-1. As for Gardendale, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-13 record this season.

Athens didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 defeat against Helena on the 18th. As for Gardendale, they have also already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against Wetumpka on the 18th.
