Soccer Game Preview: Amherst vs. Ripon

The Amherst Falcons will square off against the Ripon Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amherst's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Amherst fell victim to Berlin and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to the Indians. While losing is never fun, Amherst can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin soccer rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Berlin are ranked 94th).

Meanwhile, Ripon waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 2-0 shutout. Give Ripon's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Ripon now has a winning record of 7-6-1. As for Amherst, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10-1.
