The Ellwood City Wolverine will face off against the Beaver Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellwood City will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Ellwood City's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Beaver Falls with a sharp 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolverine, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Jordan Keller made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Keller was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Geordan Bokor was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mills, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Ellwood City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Beaver fell victim to Bethel Park and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Hawks. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Beaver saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Hughes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Ellwood City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Beaver, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ellwood City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Beaver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
