Softball Game Preview: Midland Eagles vs. Monticello Panthers

Midland is 0-4 against Monticello since June of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Midland has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Midland's offense. They came up short against North Linn on Thursday, falling 12-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monticello). Everything went their way against Camanche on Thursday as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Midland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17.

Midland might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Monticello when the teams last played back in June of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
