Softball Recap: Jasper Comes Up Short

Jasper fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Vidor on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 10-9. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

Erika Gomez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsi Durham, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Jasper's loss dropped their record down to 4-10-2. As for Vidor, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Jasper has already played their next game, a 15-9 victory against Lumberton on the 29th. As for Vidor, they will be playing at home against Bridge City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
