Basketball Game Preview: Cherryville Ironmen vs. Highland Tech Rams

The Cherryville Ironmen will square off against the Highland Tech Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Cherryville ended up a good deal behind Bessemer City and lost 54-37.

Cherryville's defeat came about despite a quality game from Raylei Gidney, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. That was a full 43.2% of Cherryville's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Allen, who had 11 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Highland Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 60-20 defeat at the hands of Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-7.

Highland Tech's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Cherryville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Cherryville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Highland Tech in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 44-39 victory.
