The
Bishop Gorman football team is used to the bright lights, so it seemed only fitting to stage their preseason photo shoot along the Las Vegas Strip.
New Gaels head coach Kenny Sanchez suggested holding the shoot at the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign and — working with photographer
Jann Hendry — they were able to do that.
Hendry, who is based in the Las Vegas area and is a member of the MaxPreps Professional Photographers' Network, photographed 10 top players along with Sanchez during a shoot completed in late April.
"We arrived at the sign with the plan to shoot around sunset," Hendry said. "Little did we know that a Monday night at the sign would be so busy."
During the shoot, Hendry said they encountered three wedding ceremonies, bachelorette parties, tour buses filled with travelers, and an Elvis impersonator.
"It was a challenge," she said about staging the photo shoot at the well-known tourist spot. "We set up a defensive line of players to hold the crowd back. We moved around a bit to capture the sign and sunset, all while trying to forgo the bystanders."
Bishop Gorman kicks off its season on Saturday by hosting Chandler (Ariz.).
