The Quaker Valley Quakers are taking a road trip to face off against Eden Christian Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Quaker Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Riverside hit Quaker Valley with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Quakers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Quakers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Oscar Roig was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kyle Rader also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Eden Christian Academy entered their tilt with Monessen on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Greyhounds 18-1. Considering Eden Christian Academy has won nine games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brady Hull made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Brett Feldman was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Noah Emswiler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Eden Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Eden Christian Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Quaker Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Quaker Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eden Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
