Softball Recap: Del Oro Has No Trouble Against River City

Del Oro won the last time they faced River City and things went their way on Friday too. The Del Oro Golden Eagles put the hurt on the River City Raiders with a sharp 20-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Mikayla Finn and Ava Messina dominated on the mound. Finn tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Messina pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Del Oro got a massive performance out of Chloe Champas, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Champas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avyn Brower, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles.

Del Oro's record is now 2-0. As for River City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Del Oro will venture away from home to face off against Elk Grove at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elk Grove's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Del Oro's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for River City, they will take on Kennedy in a tournament on Thursday.
