Football Recap: Taylorsville Skates Past Stringer with Ease

After low-scoring totals in their previous five contest, Taylorsville brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past the Stringer Red Devils 49-12 on Friday. The Tartars not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 8, 2024 (when they won 46-0).

Karryon Phillips was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 134 yards and one TD on only five carries. Tayshawn Scott helped out on the ground, rushing for 138 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Taylorsville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 328 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Taylorsville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Damarion Booth, Ladainian King, and Zarian Pittman, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Stringer's side was Booth, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles.

Taylorsville's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Stringer, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Coming up, Taylorsville will square off against Resurrection Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stringer, they will challenge Wayne Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
