Softball Recap: Holy Cross Wins Going Away Against Carbondale Area

Holy Cross got themselves on the board against Carbondale Area on Thursday, but Carbondale Area never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 12-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

AVA SCHMIDT made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. SCHMIDT was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Holy Cross got a massive performance out of JULES GALELLA, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was MIA GALELLA, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

Holy Cross lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Holy Cross' record is now 2-0. As for Carbondale Area, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Holy Cross wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-2 victory against West Scranton on the 28th. As for Carbondale Area, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Forest City at 4:30 p.m. on the 9th.
