Basketball Recap: East Gaston Comes Up Short

East Gaston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 65-15 loss at the hands of the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-9.

When it comes to explaining why East Gaston lost, don't look at Kayla Maiers. Despite the final result, she posted five points.

Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy was led to victory by Samara Jones and Brooklyn Twitty. Jones put up 19 points and four steals, while Twitty earned 14 points and eight boards. Twitty is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Abigail Hargro was another key player, putting up six points.

East Gaston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

East Gaston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-16 loss against Burns on the 17th. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy has also already played their next contest, a 72-46 defeat against Xaverian on the 18th.
