Baseball Recap: St. Thomas More Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for St. Thomas More, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Lake Country Lutheran Lightning with a sharp 11-3 win on Monday. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Brayden Alivo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. St. Thomas More is undefeated when Alivo posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise. Andrew Dodge was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Thomas More kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Country Lutheran only managed six hits.

St. Thomas More's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they moved to 7-3 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Thomas More will take on St. Catherine's at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Angels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.11 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they will welcome Brookfield Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lightning's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Knights have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
