Basketball Recap: Queen Creek Comes Up Short

Queen Creek played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Higley Knights, falling 86-61. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Knights are ranked tenth).

Higley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Donovan Dabney out in front who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. The game was Dabney's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Noah Gloor, who went 8 for 16 en route to 25 points and seven boards.

Queen Creek's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Higley, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Queen Creek will head out to square off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Queen Creek surely won't give up without a fight. As for Higley, they will host Desert Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Higley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
