Recap: Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes vs. Westfield Mustangs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 70-28 victory over the Mustangs. Considering Duncanville has won 12 games by more than 20 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading Duncanville to victory were Keelon Russell and Caden Durham. Russell threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes, while Durham gained 206 total yards. Durham's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards.
Despite the loss, Westfield still got an impressive performance from Taji Atkins, who rushed for 296 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. Atkins hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games. Austin Abram was another key contributor, picking up 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The win was the fifth in a row for Duncanville, bringing their record for this year to 12-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.
Duncanville is on the road again on Saturday and play against North Crowley at 3:00 p.m. on December 9th. One thing working in North Crowley's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. Westfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
