Baseball Recap: Neumann-Goretti Takes a Loss

After flying high against Roman Catholic last Wednesday, Neumann-Goretti came back down to earth. Neumann-Goretti fell just short of the Father Judge Crusaders by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Saints have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Johnluca LaSpada was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Neumann-Goretti saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Meitzler, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Neumann-Goretti's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Father Judge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Neumann-Goretti will square off against Archbishop Wood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Archbishop Wood will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Neumann-Goretti surely won't give up without a fight. As for Father Judge, they will face off against Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
