Baseball Recap: Kiski School Cougars vs. Homer-Center Wildcats

If Kiski School was riding high off their 13-3 takedown of Obama Academy of International Studies last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kiski School Cougars wound up on the wrong side of a rough 11-4 walloping at the hands of the Homer-Center Wildcats on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kiski School of the 14-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Kiski School saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Fontanez, who went 1-for-4 with a double.

Even though they lost, Kiski School didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homer-Center only tossed six.

On Homer-Center's side, Brayden Rado was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Rado hasn't dropped below three hits for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Owen Saiani, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Kiski School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Homer-Center, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kiski School will take on Obama Academy of International Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kiski School is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Homer-Center, they will head out on the road to face off against New Castle at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Homer-Center is facing New Castle at the right time seeing as New Castle is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
