Softball Recap: Novato's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Novato not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024. Everything went their way against the Montgomery Vikings as Novato made off with a 9-3 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Claire Hannan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Seanna Madsen was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Allie Tubach was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI.

Novato kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Novato's record now sits at 3-9. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Novato will head out to face off against Redwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Redwood's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Novato's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Montgomery, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elsie Allen at 4:30 p.m. on April 8.
