Volleyball Recap: Waynesboro Little Giants vs. Riverheads Gladiators

Waynesboro was the 3-0 winner over Riverheads when they last played one another back in October, but their luck changed this time around. The Waynesboro Little Giants fell just short of the Riverheads Gladiators by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Little Giants have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Waynesboro took Riverheads into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Even though they lost, Waynesboro was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matchups.

Riverheads found their leader in sophomore Hattie Croft, who had ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces Croft has posted in her last seven contests.

Waynesboro's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Riverheads, they moved to 7-12 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Waynesboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Riverheads has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Staunton on the 30th.
