Dayton hasn't had much luck against Spring Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dust Devils will face off against the Spartans at 3:00 p.m. Dayton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Elko hit Dayton with a four-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dust Devils came up short against the Indians, falling 13-5. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Duke Evans was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Dayton: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Spring Creek gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Fernley 5-4.
Hudson Sorenson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Spring Creek got a big performance out of Gabe Zubiria, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of McCoy McArtor, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Spring Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dayton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Spring Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dayton suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Spring Creek when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Dust Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
