Baseball Recap: Gar-Field Takes a Loss

Gar-Field had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Woodbridge Vikings, falling 11-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in March.

As for Woodbridge, their record is now 10-7. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

For Woodbridge's part, Caelan Goodwin-Slater made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Goodwin-Slater also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Woodbridge is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. Goodwin-Slater was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 4th.

In other batting news, Kory Barbier was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Powell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gar-Field will square off against Forest Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodbridge, they will take on Annandale at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Atoms at the right time seeing as the Atoms are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
