Softball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends South Knox's Winning Streak

South Knox dropped their record down to 6-11 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Northview Knights, falling 11-1. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Northview, they now have a winning record of 10-9. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

For Northview's part, Maggie Krause made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Krause has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mackie Pell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, South Knox will face off against Loogootee at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Northview, they will take on Terre Haute North Vigo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
