Volleyball Game Preview: South Burlington Wolves vs. Rice Memorial Green Knights + How To Watch

South Burlington has gone 9-1 against Rice Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Green Knights at 6:00 p.m. South Burlington is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

South Burlington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Essex, who was ranked first at the time (South Burlington was ranked 11th). The Wolves came up short against the Hornets on Thursday, falling 3-0.

South Burlington was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Essex work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-11, 27-25, 25-15.

Despite the loss, South Burlington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maggie Castro had 14 digs and one assist. Castro is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Rice Memorial got the win against Burlington on Friday by a conclusive 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Green Knights.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-22, 25-23.

The win got Rice Memorial back to even at 3-3. As for South Burlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

South Burlington was able to grind out a solid victory over Rice Memorial when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
