Volleyball Recap: Mauston's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of six wins, Mauston's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Wautoma Hornets. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 27-25.

Breanna Heller paced Mauston's offense, picking up ten kills. Heller got some help from Rylea Mehne and her 11 assists. Ellie Pouillie and Dylan Walsh kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Mauston's loss dropped their record down to 22-10. As for Wautoma, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-14.

Mauston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Wisconsin Dells on the 18th. As for Wautoma, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Adams-Friendship on the 18th.
