Baseball Recap: Crimson Cliffs Takes Down Mountain Crest in a Playoff Battle

Crimson Cliffs had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let Mountain Crest get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Thursday.

The result came thanks to MADDEN SMITH's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, JASON MCARTHUR and BRECKEN PARK did most of the damage at the plate: MCARTHUR got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one stolen base, while PARK went 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. MCARTHUR is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. CUTTER CHRISTENSEN was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Crimson Cliffs' victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Mountain Crest, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8.

Crimson Cliffs will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mountain Crest: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
