Preview: Columbus Christian Crusaders vs. Crothersville Tigers
The Columbus Christian Crusaders and the Crothersville Tigers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Columbus Christian's and Varsity Opponent's match on Friday was close at halftime, but Columbus Christian turned on the heat in the second half with 45 points. Columbus Christian blew past Varsity Opponent 68-44. Columbus Christian pushed the score to 55-34 by the end of the third, a deficit Varsity Opponent had little chance of recovering from.
Columbus Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cam Pritchard, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Walden, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Columbus Christian's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Elijah Fields got a bit more time on the court (eight vs. his season average of four). Fields made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points along with nine rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, Crothersville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Seven Oaks Classical on the road to the tune of 81-26. The victory was some much needed relief for Crothersville as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
The victory made it two in a row for Columbus Christian and bumps their season record up to 12-14. As for Crothersville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
