Recap: Clinton Red Devils vs. Union County Yellowjackets
The Clinton Red Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Union County at home to the tune of 61-4. The result was nothing new for Clinton, who have now won six matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Leading Clinton to victory were Kemaria Shelton and Bryanna Belton. Shelton scored 11 points along with four steals, while Belton scored 14 points along with three steals. The match was Belton's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nah'shia Wright, who scored five points along with six steals.
Clinton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Union County, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton will square off against Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Columbia comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Union County is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Chester at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Chester is ranked 240th, while Union County is ranked 248th).
