Basketball Game Preview: El Segundo Eagles vs. Verbum Dei Jesuit Eagles

El Segundo are taking a road trip to square off against Verbum Dei Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo has given up an average of 55.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

El Segundo is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Torrance on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Eagles took a blow against the Tartars, falling 76-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Tartars since January 6, 2023.

Meanwhile, Verbum Dei Jesuit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 65-45 to North.

El Segundo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Verbum Dei Jesuit, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 6-4.

El Segundo was able to grind out a solid win over Verbum Dei Jesuit in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 60-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Verbum Dei Jesuit's Harper Whitman, who shot 53% from the field en route to 24 points.
