Softball Game Preview: Loyola Academy Ramblers vs. Hersey Huskies

The Loyola Academy Ramblers will head out on the road to square off against the Hersey Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Loyola Academy will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Loyola Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Warren Township by a score of 6-2. Six seems to be a good number for the Ramblers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Hunter Lewis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

Lewis wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Takacs, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, while Hersey put up some runs last Tuesday, the same can't be said for Niles North. The Huskies walked away with a 5-0 win over the Vikings. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Loyola Academy pushed their record up to 16-15 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Hersey, their record now sits at 19-10.

Loyola Academy beat Hersey 7-2 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Do the Ramblers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
