Basketball Recap: Hazlehurst Comes Up Short

Hazlehurst managed to slip by Franklin County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians lost 70-46 to the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Indians just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Hazlehurst lost, don't look at Brayden Murray. Despite the final result, he shot 64% from the field to rack up 20 points along with five boards and four steals. Murray has become a key player for the Indians: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josiah Pittman, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds.

Franklin County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Wilson, who went 5-for-7 en route to 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Wilson a new career-high in blocks (three). Omari Williams was another key player, shooting 56% from the field on his way to 13 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Hazlehurst's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Franklin County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
