Football Recap: St. Paul Takes a Loss + How To Watch

St. Paul had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 30-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heppner Mustangs. The Buckaroos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Heppner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb George out in front who rushed for 81 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also caught one score. Those 81 rushing yards gave George a new career-high. Alakae Rodriguez was another key rusher, rushing for 138 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Heppner has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Paul will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Santiam at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Heppner, they will take on Lost River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
